There have been quite a few bad days recently, the endless stream of paperwork and physio and drugs and scar massage (don't let the term massage fool you, the aim is to rip the formed scar tissue off the muscle making my leg able to bend) but today was not one of them!
After a cheerful breakfast and a quick prep and fry of casserole ingredients it was time to go out for a much needed fun afternoon with one of my oldest and best friends. having nipped across to Gloucester we found a handy disabled parking spot outside toys r us which obviously meant we had to go investigate toys for the next generation!
This was followed by some fun shopping and a nice hot chocolate and a whole load of fun new memories as well as the memory and plans to re-live old ones (having met on a boat trip in Gloucester Docks aged 14(ish)). By 5pm it was bath time to reward my knee and arms for the epic walk (it was my longest by far since surgery or actually pre-op!) then home for a casserole that actually turned out rather well.
All in all it was the kind of day that gives you happy new memories and the confidence to branch out and try pushing your limits. Yesterday was kind of horrible but today really wasn't and as long as days like today keep popping up I know that I will get through this whole EDS thing because when you are with the people who matter it doesn't matter what benefits you get or how much physio you are doing, it's just a chance to have fun. What better medicine is there?
