Three Weeks On (inc pic)

So week three arrived with the fantastic news that the evil brace is history!!!!!!!! Unfortunately this does mean physio begins :( I had the brace off Monday afternoon and went to my first physio session at midday on Tuesday. The good news is my surgeon has given me unlimited use of my knee (sounds rather like a phone or internet plan but hey!) the bad news is that my knee is not quite so on board with all this no limits stuff!

Today is four days after the brace came off and every day I am able to walk without my crutches for a little longer (although deciding to push it in the middle of the night when going downstairs was a rather daunting and  potentially dangerous mistake). I'm also finding that the physio is getting a little easier (and by easier I do mean that my eyes are no longer watering by the end of the set). I have been condemned to three lots of physio a day, and it really is not fun! I also have the wonder of a distinctly floppy leg. In fact it is totally unresponsive to most things which means using my socks to physically lift my leg into and out of cars, beds and sofas (although I have mastered the slightly scary horse dismount slide type bed dismount-its a little scary!)

Anyway I guess the reality is that my leg is doing a lot better than expected. I spent two weeks in a brace rather than four and can already walk (very short, flat distances) without crutches. I do somewhat look like someone with a false leg when attempting to walk but you can't have everything! It is very frustrating but I know that I am at least on the road to recovery, it just might be a long road...

Oh, and just to keep up the tradition here is the photo of week three... The bruising doesn't show well but believe me it's quite extensive:
