“If Tomorrow Never Comes”- I’d Really be Quite Happy...

So this is it, the night before the big surgery. It’s been rather a hectic few days medically speaking with going to see the specialist in Bath (who is going to convince the physio’s not to run screaming from me and possibly arrange some in patient physio with his team post op), followed by a visit from the OT in the afternoon who came bearing gifts (of a bath board and shower stool-the bathboard allowed me to have my first enjoyable shower in a very long time and cleaning my teeth in no longer an exercise in balance and endurance with the stool) and promises of more goodies to come!

However the trip to Bath (on train via Bristol) followed by the supermarket a trip to town and the OT left me lacking in spoons. Therefore today’s trip to hand therapy was less than enjoyable even though I got a new resting splint for my left hand (now I have a matching pair) and a magic pen grip (just like the triangular ones for kids but grown up size) which will make writing while in hospital much easier (no computer! L). Tragically the afternoon trip to the cinema was cancelled due to one of my lovely(?) housemates unplugging Rory so I am yet to get my reward for week 2 of the sticker chart. However the lack of spoons does mean this may have been a blessing in disguise...

All that leads to surgery tomorrow... I guess I’m feeling rather nervous and would quite like tomorrow not to happen but also looking forward to it being over with but dreading the pain and rehab! But hey, it’s happening so here we go! I guess I’ll see you on the other side!
